Calling All the Undecided–

The more I research Barack Obama and his ideologies, the uglier it looks, and the greater potential for turning really bad in a hurry it seems to have. I am, in fact, very worried about the way things *could* stack up should he win the election tomorrow, which it looks very likely that he may. He has ascended from being merely popular into a candidate who has–before the election–no compunction about silencing the press. He has fired reporters who had negative things to say about him. This is not good.

A + B = C. Let’s do the math. A= Charismatic leaders; B= Adored by the masses; C= Bad things happening.

Put this equation together with a (D) Pres, (D) House AND a (D) Senate, things could change in this country VERY QUICKLY, for all of us. There will be no opposition.

History can and has repeated itself. Why not now? Because we’re Americans? Because… –well, why not? If we’re not careful to defend and protect our liberties, they can easily be lulled away from us… until it’s too late to reclaim them without a terrible struggle.

I am most especially concerned about the issues coming up with the press and media not just unfairly reporting–but with what sounds to me like certain stories being gagged, reporters being fired for saying anything negative, and so on. This is BEFORE the election, folks–before even January ‘09. Please wake up and pay attention!

There are reasons our Founding Fathers gave us the Bill of Rights, and that those Amendments are what they are. They came from oppressive government. They understood, dare I say it, far better than we do today about what it MEANS to be oppressed; what it means to live under the unfair rule of tyrants.

I fear many of us have become complacent. Many say the Constitution is old, the Founding Fathers had “nice ideas,” but ours are better, that we’re too “modern” and know better. We have lived under such remarkable freedom for so long that we are forgetting what I like to call “the captivity of our fathers.” Too easily we forget what they fought for, bled for, gave their lives for, so that we could live as free citizens. Too easily we take our liberties for granted.

I am a political moderate. I look at both sides of the fence. I like some of the things the Repuplicans do, and some that the Democrats do, and disagree with other things on both sides of the line. If this was any other election, I might vote a third party this time myself (with the exception that I just plain like Sarah Palin–say what you like about her, I like that she’s one of us–regular folk, with attitude–and can dress out her own elk). I’m not overly fond of McCain or his policies, but I am definitely afraid of what Obama might do, considering the pull he has already put into play with the media and press.

But considering that the third party has *never* won the election, and that in some states it will be extremely close–this is my last-minute plug to say, in THIS election–if you *don’t* really, really, really like Obama for President, (and if you do, that’s fine, exercise your vote!) if you don’tthis is not the election to vote third-party for a candidate with no hope of winning.

No, THIS is the election to vote against the most scary opponent. If you can’t stand either of them… it’s time to go with the lesser of two evils. In my honest opinion–this would be John McCain. McCain has been a POW and suffered torture for his country. He understands the concept of prison, and he knows first-hand the evil that is out there in the world that hates us.

Don’t waste your swing votes, guys…. vote for the other guy.

This is not the hour to get hung up on whose trillion of the national debt will be worse or better. This is not the hour to get hung up on who will make your taxes worse or better, or whose health care program you like better. No, THIS is the hour to look at who has greater stated intent to hold up the United States Constitution. Who has greater strength of character. Who holds more deeply, with greater intent, to preserving the United States as we know it.

Barack Obama consistently quotes Karl Marx and has numerous socialist ties and ideologies. Please–research socialism and fascism a bit more if you don’t understand them. These ideologies are at clear odds with democracy, capitalism, and the American Dream. Yet make no mistake: Obama has not hidden his socialist agenda. It is clearly touted in many of his speeches. Easy to see. Easy to read.

I love my country. I love my democratic Republic and the freedoms it guarantees me. I don’t want to see my Constitution destroyed. And yet with things like the Fairness Doctrine out there already… I see my 1st Amendment Rights easily, quickly, at risk of being severely limited should the wrong set of circumstances spill over and blind the masses, lulling them away into a false sense of security and misleading promises.

Please think clearly, everyone, and vote your conscience.
Definitely VOTE. Make your voices heard tomorrow.
Whatever they may be.

  • I would like to point out some differences between Germany in 1933 and America in 2008.

The NSDAP was created after WWI in response to the Treaty of Versailles. Germany kind of got screwed over. They called it the dictated peace because they weren’t even allowed to participate in the negotiations. Sure, Germany was mostly responsible for the war, but they by no means STARTED the war. The Nazi party platform was based on the destruction of the Treaty of Versailles and regaining the territories that were taken away by the treaty. They didn’t set out to take over the country and destroy millions of people.

Did you know that the Nazi party was almost voted out of existence in 1924? That’s what happens in a multiparty system. You get the percentage of seats in the Parliament that is equal to the percentage of votes that you got in the election. And they just weren’t getting any votes. So they decided to align themselves with the Central Catholic Party. The center right thought that they would be able to control the Nazi’s and so they went along with it.

Now. Let’s look at the economy. Yeah, our economy has gone to pot the last couple of months. But honestly, EVERYONE should have been expecting it. But you want to know the difference between us and Germany post WWI? H Y P E R I N F L A T I O N. The day you have to leave work in the middle of the day with a wheelbarrow full of cash to go buy a loaf of bread come talk to me again. And just as a side note, if you really want to compare, have you thought about FDR? He came in and saved us from the Great Depression with the New Deal about the same time as Hitler. So does that make Hilter and FDR synonymous?

Shall we examine Hitler’s rapid rise to power?

    1933

30 Jan – PRESIDENT Hindenberg appoints Hitler Chancellor of Germany.
27 Feb – Reichstag (German Parliament building) is burned to the ground.
28 Feb – Hitler was given emergency powers. Because they were in an emergency. No one really knows who set fire to the Reichstag.
23 Mar – The Enabling Act gave Hilter 4 years of dictatorial powers. The German Parliament essentially VOTED themselves out of existence. (When the President of the United Sates only has 4 years to prove themselves to the people of the country, do we really think this could happen here?)
31 Mar – The local governments no longer had any power after this date. All the governing bodies were in the hands of the Nazis.
2 May – Trade unions are banned in Germany. (Do you really think Obama is going to be able to DE-unionize America?)
14 July – Germany officially becomes a one-party nation. You can’t vote for anyone else. (And that, is the beauty of our two-party system. There will ALWAYS be opposition in Congress simply because we have two parties.)
30 Nov – The Gestapo is created. (Now unless you can count the CIA or the FBI as secret police . . .)

    1934

    2 Aug – President Hindenberg dies. This makes Hitler the President – D E M O C R A T I C A L L Y. Of course, right after that the army swears an oath of allegiance to him.
19 Aug – Hitler proclaims himself Fuhrer AND Reich Chancellor

So with all of that being said, can we still equate Obama with Hitler? I mean, JFK was a charismatic leader AND he was adored by the masses. Of course it got him shot . . . FDR was a charismatic leader AND he was adored by the masses. And it got him three terms as President of the United Sates during the same time the Nazis were in power in Germany.

Yes. Vote. And vote however you feel. But don’t draw parallels.

  • Good stuff. Thanks for posting this excellent history lesson.

One simple thing to bear in mind about both FDR and Kennedy, who were well-beloved and earned that love, is that neither of them were extreme socialists. Or communists. Both eschewed fascism and communism. Obama does not.

Neither of them attempted to control the press saying bad things about them. Obama does. [It's self-evident in the lambasting of "Joe the Plumber" who just asked a simple question and disagreed with the answer he received. Among many other stories I don't have time to post today--but you won't find them on the major news services anywhere. Try FoxNews instead.]

Neither of them ever made statements saying we need a civilian national security force that is ” just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as our existing military. (Hm–we already have the National Guard, so I’d really like to know what that meant. I have researched, and asked a number of Obama supporters, and haven’t been able to find out.)

Watch this lovely clip if you don’t believe me. I haven’t heard anyone claiming this is a fake, or that he didn’t really say these words that are coming out of his mouth, but I have heard this quote was removed from the text version of the speech (I haven’t been able to verify that either, but I would like to find it):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt2yGzHfy7s

I would like to see the whole speech here in context, but I haven’t been able to find it.

All it takes is for the Senate, House, and President to agree to VOTE things out of the Constitution. Just as Germany’s multi-party system was VOTED out of existence.

I have to run, but continue this debate if you like. I’m interested in hearing all the points.

Also please read Candace Salima’s blog for further information on Obama’s known socialism:

  • I just have one thing to point out. It was not FDR that got us out of the Depression it was the war. With all of his little projects and services nothing was working untill the war macine began employing people again. So lets not give too much credit where none is due.

  • One more thing you make Linda’s point for her. You state that the Natzi party didn’t set out to take over the country and destroy millions of people yet they did. Do any evil people really have a plan going into it or is the road to hell paved with good intentions?

  • Great thoughts, Monique!

BTW…. FDR’s little welfare program is still working to keep itself alive, and is routinely anti-family (why get married when you keep your welfare check if you don’t?) and encourages the poor to stay home collecting checks rather than going out and working for their income.
    But…. that’s beside the point.

Early Nazi Party statements are clearly Anti-Semitic, with purposes to shut down Jewish industry. There’s nothing like that in any current (stated) agenda, although the anti-Christian/religious line of thought may not be too far different from their early reasoning. Hard to say.

Aside from that…. “absolute power corrupts absolutely” is always a good rule of thumb.

  • There are different takes on what the Nazi party was all about. Some historians say that Hitler wanted to kill all the Jews as early as 1925 when Mein Kampf was published. And some historians say that killing the Jews was a result of how the war was going. I’ll leave it up to you to research and decide for yourself. I’ve already done that and I can’t convince you of my own convictions.

I’m just innately curious as to where y’all are getting your “information” on Obama.

And let’s not forget that no matter what anyone’s personal convictions may be, the people of this country have spoken and elected Obama as the next President of the United States. So maybe we should just drop this discussion and support the leaders of our country as we have been counseled to do by the leaders of our church.

  • Hi, C.,
Well… I’ve handed out a few links–you can follow them or not, as you see fit, and argue my sources are biased, if you like. (Can we find an unbiased source anywhere, really?) For the suffocation of the press–you need look no harder than the stories on “Joe the Plumber,” where the media turned to severe intimidation of a man who just asked a simple question and didn’t like the answer. Use any internet search to bring this up. See how he was treated. He was smeared by the media. The news became about who he is, rather than about the question he asked, or the answer. And remember that intimidation is one of the earliest tactics used by anyone who wants power–from the lunchroom bully to the worst dictatorial regimes in history.

As for why I feel our new President subscribes to socialist ideologies, that’s simple. Have you read Karl Marx? Do you know the writings well enough to know it when you hear it? I’ve heard it dropping out of the man’s own mouth like so much candy handed to unsuspecting babes–so my source there is his own speeches.

Just a small point on timing–I posted this blog early in the morning on Election Day, to share my opinion with those going to polls who may have not decided yet, and to encourage voting for the D or R party, rather than lose their voting power on a candidate with no hope of winning, if they truly cared about the outcome. I didn’t intend to keep yapping about it post-election results… but there are others here driving the discussion.

So, as for dropping it, well, you keep talking. :-) And this is my blog. So… since I love you, my friend… I’ll keep trying to answer your questions and points to your satisfaction, as long as you keep making them. Talk all you like. :)

I agree that the President has been chosen. I choose to support our new President in this way: by praying for him that he will be led right, and be willing to be influenced by the Holy Ghost. That he will be led to righteousness and do well for our country. That he will not lead us into error and ruin. We are in difficult times, and we need wisdom in our leaders. So I will pray for that.

Support of an elected political leader is a different matter than the sustaining of our ecclesiastical leaders, and can be carried out in many ways. I can disagree with a political leader, yet support them by sincere prayer in their behalf. I can write to my Congressmen and Senators to encourage them to vote for my views. I can pray for hearts to be softened and righteousness to increase on the earth.

We may disagree on the semantics of what “support our leaders” means, and that’s all right.

As for me, I don’t need to receive a “testimony” that Obama was called of God to lead the United States, like the witness I receive concerning my Church leaders: I need to accept that he’s been elected by the voice of the people. And I do.

I hope his motives are pure and unquestionably American, and that he will uphold the principles granted us in the Constitution. I especially hope that his ability to “talk” the jihadists into peace will work; but I won’t bet on it.

I remain skeptical of anyone who unflinchingly, and with a smile, accepts the title “The One” or “Chosen One.” I am further skeptical that this particular chosen official has any of the proper experience needed to run our great nation: so I will also pray that he chooses wise leaders for his Cabinet who can help him learn his job, rather than just appointing by the buddy system. That alone will make a huge difference in how the next few years play out.

I was also reminded of a simple thing which soothed my mind a great deal: Obama will want to be re-elected. He’ll want to be a successful President. He’ll want to be loved, as he has been so far by all those with “Obamamania.” He’ll have to pull more to the center, or face an unhappy public electing a R. Congress and Senate in two years, and face being voted out of office come 2012. He’s not going to want an unhappy public.

I hope this is a supportive enough statement for you not to call my following of Church leadership into question? Because there is no question in my mind that I follow the Prophet and Apostles with “unwearyingness” and fervor, and if you honestly want to take that tack with me, things could get messy around here in a big hurry.

Love you though. I’m genuinely glad to have your thoughts. Thanks for sharing them.

  • Ok, fair enough. Let’s just say that we agree to disagree on a few things and call it good.

  • usingmyvoiceaboutprop8

-Great post and comments. I agree wholeheartedly. As of late, I am concerned with if and how Obama will address this whole protesting the passage of prop 8, especially when I see so chummy with Villarigossa. Check out my blog for some of my thoughts and insights on the subject.
